A trip to Kew Gardens yesterday. I’d like to claim I went round making notes on Latin names, but I didn’t. I just gawped at weird and wonderful things.

- I don’t normally like flowers like this, but this one was such a tart. She’s clearly saying “come on bees, take me now”

- Mother of Frugilegus liked the lilies. They’re very well-behaved.

- I liked the wibbly wobbly walkway in the trees. It’s fun having a bird’s eye view and seeing all the other lifeforms that hang out up high. And the walkway structure looks like a Jules Verne construction.

- The information around the walkway was beautifully presented. This one reminded me of a book that fascinated and inspired me in childhood – an old fashioned ladybird book called ‘The tree and its world’.
